Apple previews upcoming Mac OS X Lion | Mac OS X | MacUser | Macworld

At a special Mac-focused event in Cupertino on Wednesday, Apple previewed the next version of its OS X operating system, called Lion.
Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion)
Lion will bring a Mac App Store to the Mac, similar to the App Store for the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. You’ll be able to purchase and download Mac apps the same way you do on iOS devices, with integrated app updates. The Mac App Store will be one way to get Mac OS apps, but developers can still sell apps as they do now.
Apple plans to open the Mac App Store within 90 days from Wednesday for use on Snow Leopard.
Lion also brings the ability to use full-screen apps, a Launchpad for launching all of the apps on your Mac. Like iOS devices, it has multiple pages, you can organize app icons on the screen, and create app folders.
A Mission Control feature expands on Expose, and gives you a view of open full-screen apps, your Dock, and your desktop. It also displays app clusters that take multiple windows from the same app and puts them together.
Apple plans to release Lion in summer 2011.

The iOS 4.1 Update Fixes Most Things, Breaks a Couple | MacNews

iPhone 4 launched June 7th, 2010Image by k-ideas via FlickrThe iOS 4.1 Update Fixes Most Things, Breaks a Couple | MacNews
I was VERY HAPPY to see the iOS 4.1 update hit the streets last week. Although I had already had my iPhone 4 replaced for the yellow photo white balance issue, I was still having annoying proximity sensor issues and sometimes people would complain that my voice was very garbled while talking on my bluetooth headset. iOS 4.1 really hit the spot in a big way. First off, for most people it corrected the "taking an indoor shot coming out all yellow problem". I did some tests with another iPhone 4 here at my house that hand't been replaced and I took a shot while it was running iOS 4.0.2 and then took the same shot after applying the iOS 4.1 update and well, see for yourself:

As expected, Apple is now deploying iOS 4.1 to iPhones and iPods via iTunes. The firmware incorporates a variety of anticipated changes, such as support for Game Center, Apple's Xbox Live-like gaming service. It also copes with several major glitches, including faulty proximity sensors, slow iPhone 3G performance and trouble with Bluetooth and Nike+iPod connections.
Other features include support for TV show rentals, and two iPhone 4-specific additions in the form of HDR photography and HD video uploads to YouTube and MobileMe. Some previously unannounced upgrades have also been made. Users can now make FaceTime calls directly from the Favorites menu, and take better advantage of AVRCP-enabled Bluetooth devices, for instance through new track skipping support.
The size of the firmware may vary depending on the device, but should be at least 332MB. Supported iPhones include the 3G, 3GS and 4; iPod touches must be second-generation or later. The first iPad version of iOS 4 is only slated to come with v4.2's launch in November.
